May 2004
In May we made the long-anticipated trip to Bath, a place we'd been meaning to visit for over a year. Using as our home base Bristol, a great city for shopping, we spent a long weekend in the area, visiting both Bath and nearby Newark Park.
Bath
For Kassie and John our visit to Bath was a first. I had last toured Britain's most historic spa town fifteen years previously. The landmarks are little changed, with the exception of numerous new shops, but the hordes of tourists had evidently faded from my memory over the years. It was tough negotiating the labyrinthine rooms and corridors of the Roman Baths Museum with Kassie's hand clutched firmly in mine. Still, we managed, and John found an opportunity to take one of the town's informative free walking tours.
Newark Park
Newark Park is located south of Bath in Gloucestershire. It's an old hunting lodge built circa 1550 which stands high on the edge of a 40-foot cliff, affording spectacular views.
