July 2005
In anticipation of our departure in August-September, we've begun a mini whirlwind tour of England, starting with Windsor, ostensibly in order to celebrate Kassie's acceptance at a prestigious school in Montreal. She took two well-deserved days off school to visit:
- Legoland – the world-famous amusement park inspired by Lego products
- Windsor Castle – the Queen's weekend retreat and preferred residence
- Cliveden – a Grade I listed garden, extensive woodlands and Italianate mansion which doubles as a posh hotel
- Stonehenge – the mysterious legendary stones positively everyone has heard about
We also made a few weekend outings to the following spots:
- Iron Bridge – the world's first iron bridge, erected over the River Severn in 1779
- Moseley Old Hall – yet another house (like Boscobel House) which provided Charles II with refuge after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester in 1651
