Easter 2003
On Easter Sunday we visited two castles in Wales, thereby putting our recently renewed membership in the National Trust to good use.
Chirk Castle
Chirk Castle is located near Wrexham, about a 45-minute drive away. It being Easter, we embarked on the Easter trail but had little luck finding the clues, posted on bunny shaped signs, and therefore the answers. Rain clouds brought a premature end to our idyllic walk through the extensive gardens but we did manage a full tour of the castle itself.
Powis Castle
After leaving Chirk, we decided to drive another hour south to Powis Castle, where we had better luck completing the Easter trail. The only answer we missed was close to impossible for a Canadian (even an ex-pat) to guess: "What is a traditional British food served at Easter?" We decided on roast beef and yorkshire pudding, mentioned turkey in passing, but the answer was a surprising........
