August 2005
During our last month in England, we managed to squeeze in a few visits to long-awaited destinations, such as Oxford and particularly Kelmscott Manor, the country home of William Morris and for years a site I wished to tour. We also managed to visit:
- Buscot Park – a beautiful country estate and home to the Faringdon Collection
- Calke Abbey – an untouched Victorian home in Derbyshire
- Ashby de la Zouch Castle – an evocative ruined castle in an old market town
- Portsmouth – the quintessential port city with ships, old and new, galore.
This ends our regular update to the website. No doubt we shall return to England (and/or Scotland and Wales), at which time we will gladly chronicle our travels. Thanks for taking the journey with us!
