April 2004
With Spring well on its way in Cheshire, we decided it was time to come out of hibernation and resume our travels.
Wightwick Manor (Staffordshire)
Wightwick Manor is located in Wolverhampton, just under two hours away. A few months ago I learned that it is a valuable repository of Pre-Raphaelite art. Only open on Saturdays on the weekends but on Sundays and Mondays of Bank Holiday weekends, we made the drive down on Easter.
Yorkshire
Also on Easter weekend, we took a drive North to Yorkshire to another area we've been meaning to visit, Haworth and the dark and misty moors of Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. We were not disappointed. We also managed a visit to nearby East Riddlesden Hall.
Surrey and London
Also in April we travelled South, ostensibly to drop me off in London for a three-day course but also to take the opportunity to visit Dover and surrounding sites (Canterbury and Polesden Lacey Estate). Kassie and John deposited me in London near Bexleyheath, allowing me to take a much-anticipated tour of Red House.
